Another Week

At my last ultrasound, I believe, before I switch doctors we got to see the baby move! It was moving its arms and its legs, trying to get comfortable the tech said. It was so cool. The little baby twisting and moving. On the drive home I was still so excited about it, but then I said to Jason, “It’s so cool, but at the same time really weird! That’s a completely separate being and it’s LIVING INSIDE ME.” Almost like a parasite, which I suppose is what a baby is. :)
I can’t feel the movement yet; they said I probably won’t for another month or so. But just to see it was so cool!!

Baby is 31mm long and the heartbeat was at 164bpm. I asked if it was ok that the heartbeat went down, b/c last week it was at 188 or something and the tech said that the 180s was actually probably the topping out point and it would now come down and start equalizing out. So, 164bpm was perfectly normal.

Got a book at the library over the weekend called “Fearless Pregnancy” and I think I need to buy a copy for myself and then give copies to everyone I know who gets pregnant. It covers everything that people worry about and what pregnancy books get moms freaked out over (hair coloring, painting a room, pet cats, what they eat, prenatal vitamins & morning sickness, and just EVERYTHING) and it told me the Fear and then what the actual truth was. It was so liberating to know that the little things really are just little things! And it gave things to talk about with your doctor and all sorts of useful information. It was co-written by an OB/GYN, a midwife, and a mom. And because I’m a spaz and a worry-wart, it really was helpful. I haven’t felt so free and calm in a long time. :)
Next week we have our “close-out” appointment with the doctor that has been observing me this trimester. Then the following week I already have an appointment with a new doctor. So, we’re off and running! Finishing up week 10.
